Stone

These rings are inspired by the rough texture and flattened facets of hewn stone. To make these rings I use my very roughest work hammer. The head of the hammer is pocked and battered, crafted by work into its own unique patina. By hitting the metal with this hammer, the texture of this roughened surface is transmitted onto the surface of the metal.

I also experimented with my process when making these two rings, to give two subtle variations in the style. The larger ring has been cast before hammering, so the edge of the ring is even rougher and less uniform. By contrast, the narrow ring has a uniform, smooth and soft edge. The style you prefer will depends on what kind of stones you like, I think ~ the jagged ones or the smooth ones.

The rings shown are a 2.5mm band, and a 5mm band, both made from recycled silver.  Both have been lightly hand polished, to give a finish with a very subtle shine. This is my preferred finish for these rings, but I could fully polish them to make them much shinier, or make them fully matte - either of those would also look good. I can make this style in any width you like, in silver, 9 carat, or 18 carat gold. I can also use gold you’ve inherited, if you prefer, or a mix. The beauty of a truly handmade ring is that I have total control over your metal, it’s never sent away to a third party, so that means we can use it exactly as you want to.
